A Summerwood Invocation of the Muse (24 July 2021)

Hail! Muse of the Ancients,
come to us, we pray you!
Shine your beams into our Cromlech
and Illumine our Hearts
With the Fires of Inspiration!
Holly, Hazel, Willow, Pine –
Come and en-fire us
Until we wax divine!”

- An Invocation of the Moon by
Magdalena Ipswich[1]

MOUNTAIN LAUREL: EVER SACRED TO THE MUSE

[1] This invocation is quoted by one of the characters in a dialogue I am working on dealing with the mythic themes in William Wordsworth’s poem “The Idiot Boy” from Lyrical Ballads (1798). Magdalena is a character in my poetic landscape called Ross County, where all my stories and many of my poems take place. The Moon is up tonight and I was inspired to want to share these words with you. Blessed be!
